No more excess baggage

As we age the elasticity in the skin is reduced and skin can take on a ‘crepey’ appearance. The brow can descend and the eyes can become hooded due to excess skin on the upper eyelids.

A procedure called upper lid blepharoplasty can offer a solution to this problem. This procedure is carried out by our Consultant plastic surgeon in our state-of-the-art minor operations suite.

You will require a full consultation with the doctor to assess your suitability for treatment. The treatment is carried out with a local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel a thing.

An incision is made along the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Surplus tissue is removed and tiny sutures are used to close the skin. Small sterile tape is used as dressing to cover the incision line.

The procedure takes about 45 minutes. You will recover with light refreshments in one of our private recovery rooms, relaxing in a comfortable recliner chair for an hour after your treatment. You can then go home, we would ask that you arrange for someone to collect you. Our team of experienced Nurses will contact you daily to check you are making a good recovery.

Your sutures are removed at the clinic 5 days following surgery.

what is included in the free consultation?

Your free of charge consultation will last for approximately 30 minutes and gives you the opportunity to come in and talk to one of our experts about the treatment process and what it involves.  It also allows us to look at the area you want treating and give a more accurate idea as to the likely number of treatments involved and potential cost.  You can ask any questions you may have in relation to the treatment, we'll also show you some before and after images of other treatments that have been carried out.  You can then go away and make an informed decision as to whether you wish to proceed with treatment.  Whether you decide to go ahead or not, the consultation is completely free of charge.

what are the side effects?

You may have some bruising and swelling for 7-10 days following surgery.

will I have a noticeable scar?

The surgeon will make the incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid.  You will have a thin red ling along the crease once the sutures have been removed.  The redness will gradually fade and a thin white line will remain.  This is not usually noticeable and is easily concealed with makeup.

will I need time off work?

We would recommend 10-14 days off work if you don't want anyone to know you've had surgery.

Please note this treatment can be carried out in conjunction with lower lid skin laser resurfacing to tighten and thicken the skin under the eyes and reduce lines and wrinkles.
