How it works...

Laser hair removal works by passing the laser light through the outer layer of skin and into the hair follicle. The laser energy heats the hair pigment disabling the follicle.

We at Good Skin Days have two class four medical grade Cynosure Elite lasers which combine the Alexandrite and Nd:YAG systems. The Alexandrite is ideal for treating lighter skin types while the Nd:YAG laser is purpose designed to treat dark skin types (Asian & Afro-Caribbean) as it delivers the light energy at a deeper level – this ensures that any dark pigment (melanin) in the skin is not heated up and damaged.

what is included in the free laser hair removal consultation*?

Your free of charge consultation will last for approximately 30 minutes and gives you the opportunity to come in and talk to one of our experts about the treatment process and what it involves. It also allows us to look at the area you want treating and give a more accurate idea as to the likely number of treatments involved and potential cost. You can ask any questions you may have in relation to the treatment, we'll also show you some before and after images of other treatments that have been carried out. You can then go away and make an informed decision as to whether you wish to proceed with treatment. Whether you decide to go ahead or not, the consultation is completely free of charge.

how does it work?

Laser hair removal works by passing laser light through the outer layer of skin and into the hair follicle. The laser energy heats the hair pigment disabling the follicle.

Your hair grows in 3 phases...

  • anagen
  • catagen
  • telogen

The anagen phase is the active, growing phase. The catagen and telogen phases are dormant 'resting' phases. Laser affects only hairs in the anagen phase. It disables the hairs during this growing phase. There's no strong or dark re-growth. After treatment, any re-growth is thinner and slower.

how many treatments will I need?

It depends on a number of factors - the area of your body being treated, the thickness of your hair and the growth phase your hair is in. Normally, we advise a course of 6 treatments with at least 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. Sometimes top-up treatments may be required.

will it hurt?

It is quick and effective, our brand new Cynosure Elite lasers work in conjunction with cool air blowers, to protect your skin and minimise discomfort.

is it expensive?

When compared to a lifetime of waxing, shaving and hair removal creams, laser hair removal is very affordable. Prices depend on the procedure, body area and number of treatments. If you purchase a package of 6, you receive 6 treatments for the price of 5. Check out prices below

will I need time off work?

No, you can resume your usual activities after treatment.  Your skin may appear slightly pink and feel warm and tingly immediately after treatment.  During your initial consultation we will advise you of the aftercare information.  We want to ensure you achieve the best results possible and look after your skin.  The aftercare pack contains soothing aloe vera gel, a refreshing spray and a high factor sunscreen.

anything else I need to know?

You can shave or use a hair removal cream as frequently as you want in between treatments. It’s important to avoid direct sunlight or use sun beds for at least 6 weeks before and after any laser treatment. You can use a fake tan product but make sure it’s removed before laser treatment. It’s easy and straightforward and you can be reassured that you’re in safe hands.

Difference between Laser Treatment and Electrolysis

In Electrolysis, the hair removal process covers a small area but in laser technology the entire area is covered at one sitting. At first hair removed temporarily, but with a few further sittings the hair is removed permanently.

After a certain span of time the hair grows based on your hormonal function and genetic structure. Hence you may need to appoint your beautician for another sitting.
