Dermaroller is a medical procedure carried out by a medically qualified member of the team, it is usually undertaken by a Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner.

After determining your suitability for the treatment a topical anaesthetic is applied to your skin and left to take effect, this is to minimise discomfort during the procedure. The practitioner will then start the procedure using the medical device, the roller itself contains thousands of micro needles in columns. Each column will penetrate the dermis (the second layer of the skin where the collagen and elastin are stored) and make small holes which quickly close once the roller has passed enabling the skin to recover quickly.

After the treatment your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and the bloody supply is enhanced.

What is included in a the free Dermaroller consultation?

Your free of charge consultation will last for approximately 30 minutes and gives you the opportunity to come in and talk to one of our experts about the treatment process and what it involves.  It also allows us to look at the area you want treating and give a more accurate idea as to the likely number of treatments involved and potential cost.  You can ask any questions you may have in relation to the treatment, we'll also show you some before and after images of other treatments that have been carried out.  You can then go away and make an informed decision as to whether you wish to proceed with treatment.  Whether you decide to go ahead or not, the consultation is completely free of charge.

How many treatment will I require?

We recommend a course of three treatments to obtain the very best results, however single treatments still provide good results depending on the condition.

How will my skin look after a Dermaroller treatment?

Your skin will look red after your treatment, much like a mild sun burn. This will start to subside one to two hours after your treatment. The following day your skin may feel a little tighter than normal and the skin will only appear a little red.

Can I have Dermaroller on my body?

Yes. We use Dermaroller on the body to help reduce stretch marks and scarring.

What do I need to do after my treatment?

We recommend to keep your skin make-up free for at least 12 hours after your treatment. We also advise using tepid water to cleanse your skin for the following 48 hours and dry gently.

We strongly advise your wear a SPF 50 sun block after your treatment to protect your skin and enhance the outcome of the treatment.

Will it hurt?

Some slight discomfort is experienced however the managed by a topical anesthetic.
